Who Made A&W Root Beer?

In 1921, two brothers named Roy and Frank Allen founded A&W Root Beer, after their first names. When Roy Allen died in 1925, his brother Frank took over the management of the company. The company grew rapidly, expanding its product line and geographic reach.

By the early 1930s, the company had grown enough that it was renamed All-American Foods Company, Inc. After World War II, the company began selling other non-root beer items, including ice cream.
